Vice President of Devleopment

Company: Capital Good Fund

Location: Providence, RI

Job Function: Grant Writer

Background

Capital Good Fund (“Good Fund”) is a nonprofit, U.S. Treasury-certified Community Development Financial Institution headquartered in Providence, RI. Founded in 2009, our mission is to create pathways out of poverty and advance a green economy through inclusive financial services. Good Fund employees are committed to using financial services to transform the lives of those we serve.

Summary

As a nonprofit lender, Capital Good Fund (“Good Fund”) capitalizes itself in several ways: loans to its loan fund, out of which it makes loans to its borrowers; sales of loans to impact investors; loans in the form of “growth capital” to its subsidiary, Social Capital Fund, which are used for operational expenses associated with scaling; traditional philanthropic giving in the form of grants and donations; and earned income.

The VP of Development reports to the Senior VP of Investor Relations and works closely alongside the CEO, will serve in a key leadership role, and is instrumental in strategizing fundraising goals while growing and diversifying its funding base. An accomplished fundraiser with a track record of successful partnership-building, the VP will develop and maintain relationships with those dedicated to social change and climate justice who may provide funding to Good Fund. They oversee the Development team, who are responsible for the health and management of our grants program. The VP of Development will work with the Development Specialist, Senior VP of Investor Relations, and CEO to prepare grant applications and solicitations for funding, lead strategy across the organization’s fundraising efforts, manage funder relationships, and manage overall grant reporting and other fundraising activities.

As a member of the leadership team, the VP works closely with C-Suite and the Board of Directors. In addition, the VP of Development will report to and support our Senior VP of Investor Relations as they identify funding sources and strategize the best uses of grant capital. This position is an opportunity to help a growing non-profit build strong, sustainable, and diverse sources of philanthropic funding as we expand to new markets and deepen our presence within existing ones.
