NeighborWorks® Capital (NC) is a national community development financial institution (CDFI) that serves the organizational and affordable housing finance needs of the nearly 250 members of the NeighborWorks® network located across the United States. NC is based in Silver Spring, MD.

NC’s lending includes short-term loans for pre-development costs, acquisition of sites and properties, construction or rehabilitation, interim/mini-permanent/permanent financing for operating properties, lines of credit, and organizational/enterprise-level financing.

NeighborWorks Capital has two subsidiary business lines: NeighborWorks Capital Consulting, a consulting business, and NeighborWorks Capital Green, a green lending business. NeighborWorks Capital is also planning a LIHTC investment business. This is an exciting time to become part of the NC team and build a truly impactful nonprofit business.

Summary

The Project Manager – Business Growth (PM) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for working with the CEO and other members of the leadership team to support strategic growth initiatives designed to support members of the NeighborWorks America network, the national network of high-performing housing nonprofits. NC is undertaking ambitious growth initiatives that are diversifying the company’s business and providing enhanced value for our customers and partners. The PM will be a critical contributor to this work and will coordinate and drive specific activities critical to our success. To be successful, the PM will need to be focused, driven, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities at once. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual who is committed to our mission and interested in growing as the company grows. The PM will be responsible for coordinating and managing critical aspects of our growth initiatives on behalf of the CEO and other senior leaders. This position will provide the PM with an excellent opportunity to grow their depth and breadth of experience as they make major contributions toward the growth of the organization. The PM is a critical strategic partner for the CEO and the leadership team.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Status: Full-time, exempt

Location: Flexible. If remote, travel to Silver Spring, MD will be required as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support and collaborate with NC’s senior management team to develop and execute on strategic corporate initiatives.
  • Facilitate or manage enterprise-wide strategic projects.
  • Manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Engage with external partners to advance assigned projects.
  • Develop written documents and narratives that effectively describe concepts and initiatives.
  • Anticipate and solve problems while managing multiple priorities.
  • Self-manage priorities to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
  • Manage meetings to move projects forward, with diplomacy and tact.
  • Think strategically to develop actionable plans.
  • Build relationships to advance our work.
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, and be flexible, within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Outstanding organizational skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is required.
  • Experience managing complex projects is required.
  • Working understanding of the affordable housing and/or community development industries required.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency-related lending or development a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive Salary with a target range of $90,000 to $100,000. Excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental, holidays, unlimited paid time off, life insurance, 6% contribution to 401(k), transportation subsidy, and performance-based bonus.
