Background

The Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC) ignites business growth. Through its programs, services, and advocacy efforts, the WBDC has helped over 104,000 women entrepreneurs gain economic self-sufficiency through business ownership and expansion and worked to change public policy nationally and locally over its 38-year history.

The WBDC is a 501(c)(3) nationally recognized leader in the field of women’s business development and economic empowerment. Its mission is to support and accelerate business development and growth by targeting women and serving all diverse business owners, to strengthen their participation in, and impact on, the economy. WBDC values its knowledgeable, prepared, and diverse staff and fosters a culture that is results-oriented, supportive, and progressive.

WBDC has seen tremendous growth over the past decade, going from 2 offices to 8, expanding the staff from 20 to 45 and increasing the budget from $4 million to $9 million with net assets of $7 million. During the pandemic, WBDC distributed over $250 million in grants to nearly 10,000 business owners. WBDC serves thousands of business owners annually.

Summary

The next President and CEO of WBDC will have the opportunity to continue this trajectory of growth. Possibilities include:
• Exploring various organizational structures and partnerships for expanded reach and impact;
• Building strong research capabilities to advance policies impacting business owners, and;
• Updating and rebranding WBDC to contemporary terms that are in line with current use (e.g., pre-venture and startup supports).

Requirements

Reporting to a Board of Directors of 21 engaged and experienced individuals including the Co-Founder of WBDC, the next CEO has the opportunity to mentor a talented team of 45 staff and 20 contractors.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position annually is between $175,000 to $225,000 and will be commensurable with experience. The generous and comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, long term care insurance, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan. WBDC observes eighteen paid holidays each year and offers Paid Time Off including Vacation, Sick Days and Personal Days off.
