Summary

The Development Coordinator will assist the Development department in researching and writing grant proposals, white papers, letters, memos, presentations, and other materials addressed to internal and external stakeholders. They will assist the department in performing administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, maintaining electronic database, and maintaining the funder calendar.

The person in this role will be required to spend part of their time in-office, as determined by manager and business need.

Candidates for this position must be located in the Central Ohio Area

Responsibilities

Funder Research Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, collect, and write applications for Requests for Proposals (RFP)
  • Conduct literature review, market research, and data analysis for funding opportunities and program outcomes for all markets in which ECDI operates

 Grant Development Responsibilities:

  • Manage a personal pipeline of grants and internal projects
  • Collaborate with program leads on program design and anticipated outcomes
  • Coordinate with Fiscal on grant and program budgets
  • Work with support staff and management to obtain Letters of Support and other attachments
  • Ensure all components of the RFP are addressed in the application and understood and met by Fiscal and program leads
  • Support the creation of reports for funders on an as needed basis
  • Develop compelling narratives funder requests including but not limited to applications, funder outreach, and white papers
  • Submit final drafts of projects according to deadlines
  • Once funding is awarded, develop summaries of grants and lead an internal handoff meeting with program leads

Administration Responsibilities:

  • Create task lists and enforce internal deadlines
  • Assist with maintaining funding database
  • Schedule meetings for assigned projects
  • Maintain clear communication across all channels
  • Support the development of board related documents and reports
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to all ECDI policies and procedures
  • Participate in meetings and provide suggestions for improvement for the department
  • Perform other related activities, as required, to assure department and organizational success

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong writing skills and ability to craft a compelling argument in written form
    • Ability to conduct research and present findings
    • Ability to understand charts and graphs
    • Ability to provide high-level customer service to internal and external partners
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
    • Knowledge of non-profits, grant writing, grant reporting, and project/program management preferred
    • Computer Skills:
      • Experience with and knowledge of computer operation required
      • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) required
      • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro a plus
      • Experience with CRMs or Salesforce a plus
    • Comprehensive knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and techniques
  • Education and/or Experience:
    • High school diploma required, Associates degree or higher preferred
    • Two (2) or more years of grant writing or technical writing experience preferred
  • Special Requirements:
    • Must be available to work overtime during busy seasons
    • Occasional travel required
  • Other:
    • The person in this role will be required to spend part of their time in-office, as determined by manager and business need.
    • Must have access to transportation in order to travel to and from the office.
    • Typically, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time. The person in this position will occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and computer printer.
    • Positions self to move items up to 15 pounds, such as printer paper boxes across the office as needed.
    • Must avoid risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
