Summary

The Controller is an experienced professional working closely with the CFO and Director of Accounting to oversee and improve accounting operations, including maintaining and enhancing the integrity of accounting controls and internal controls; ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements; and leading the annual financial audit. The Controller will build and manage effective and streamlined systems to support the financial functions of Good Fund and its affiliated organizations, including Georgia BRIGHT. The controller will also produce thorough financial status reports for senior managers to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal controls and safeguards for all accounting operations.
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all organizations.
  • Oversee and coordinate audit activities and related work papers, including requirements for single audits.
  • Analyze financial data and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Coach, evaluate, and support accounting team members
  • Assure accurate accounting and reporting of financial transactions and related analysis of the organization, and alert management to trends and issues.
  • Assist Good Fund’s leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Maintain all required regulatory compliance regarding financial transactions and reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of Accounting / Controller experience with progressively increased responsibilities and number of direct reports
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or equivalent
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a professional team with a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Very good Excel and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to develop and revise systems, policies and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review documents for accuracy and reasonableness
  • Meets deadlines
  • Customer service orientation and ability to respond with sensitivity, patience, enthusiasm, and timeliness
  • Flexible and self-directed
  • High level of integrity and professional maturity with ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment

Compensation and Benefits

This is a forty-hour-per-week position. Salary available upon request.
