Summary

The Mortgage Loan Assistant has a critical support role in the single-family housing program. The person in this position works closely with the Mortgage Loan Originators to ensure timely and reliable processing of applications for credit decisions, data entry, and customer service. This position also provides back-up support to the other team members as needed.

Responsibilities

Essential functions                                          

  • Assist the Mortgage Loan Originators in collecting information and documents for loan file reviews.
  • Review the conditions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Obtain quotes for services from settlement agents and other vendors.
  • Prepare federally required loan disclosures and provide them to borrowers.
  • Collect credit report and appraisal fees.
  • Cross train on other team functions and provide backup support as needed.
  • Deliver high-quality and prompt customer service to applicants, borrowers, and community partners.
  • Enter data and documents into Byte loan origination software.
  • Respond to routine inquiries regarding loan products, applications, and borrower questions.
  • Participate in process improvements and document new procedures.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines including fair lending and ethical behavior.
  • Perform other duties as required to advance Community Loan Fund strategies and goals.

Requirements

Education and experience

  • One to two years’ experience in administration, preferably in the banking and/or mortgage industry.
  • Familiarity with loan documentation, disclosures, and servicing software preferred, but we are willing to train.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office 2016 programs (Word, Excel, etc.), laptop computer, and navigating software remotely.

  • Ability to use a computer for Community Loan Fund business.
  • Ability to drive for Community Loan Fund business periodically.
  • Ability to lift at least five pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting Salary at $57,000

The Community Loan Fund’s current benefit package which includes medical and dental coverage, group life and disability options, health, and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts and our 401(k) Plan upon completion of each plan’s eligibility requirements. Accrued vacation, and sick time as well as floating holidays are offered.
