Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune Features OFN Member’s Work to Support Local Shopping Movement

Recently, Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune featured OFN member Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) in an article about the building momentum for the local shopping movement as malls, shopping centers, and big-box stores close their doors in the face of the changing retail landscape and rise in online shopping. 

The article highlights WWBIC’s partnerships—including with American Express and its Small Business Saturday initiative, and with leaders from cities around Wisconsin—aimed at promoting local, independently owned businesses. 

“It’s not that we’re anti-big box, but we’re really pro-small box,” said Wendy Baumann, president of WWBIC. “It’s what our nation was founded on…It really makes a difference.”
