OFN Webinar Recap – Public Policy Update

On March 31, OFN held a webinar to provide the latest public policy updates to OFN’s membership. Led by OFN’s Dafina Williams, Mary Scott Balys, and J.K. Phenix, the webinar also included updates from Nicola Montagna, special advisor at the Small Business Administration Office of Capital Access.

Just this week, the Small Business Administration (SBA) announced significant changes to the Community Advantage Program, following extensive consult with OFN and CDFI small business lenders. President Biden also released his Fiscal Year 2023 budget on March 28.

In addition to these exciting developments, the OFN team discussed what’s next in D.C., including updates on CDFI Fund appropriations, the outlook for federal spending in FY 2023, recent changes to federal regulations impacting programs like Community Advantage, and OFN’s new advocacy resources for our membership.

CDFIs are the partners the federal government needs to help build a more inclusive economy. As Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration continue to turn to CDFIs to drive capital to under-resourced communities, it is more important than ever for CDFIs to advocate for federal policies that will spur additional investments and economic progress in disinvested communities nationwide.
