This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.

Summary

Opportunity Finance Network is looking to fill the position of Vice President, Data Engineering.  This role will provide pivotal leadership within OFN’s Data team.  This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s data infrastructure and engineering processes. This position develops and optimizes scalable data pipelines, integrations, and a robust data architecture to support OFN’s strategic goals. In addition, the VP leads efforts to ensure efficient data flow management across the organization, upholding industry best practices to empower OFN’s mission of supporting Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and driving inclusive economic growth.

Responsibilities

Data Engineering Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a scalable data engineering strategy aligned with OFN’s organizational goals and broader data strategy.
  • Collaborate with the SVP, Data, to prioritize and execute data engineering initiatives that align with organizational needs.

Data Architecture and Infrastructure:

  • Design, develop, and maintain a secure and scalable data architecture that supports the organization’s data warehouse, analytics, and reporting requirements.
  • Establish and enforce standards for data storage, access, and retrieval with a focus on high availability and reliability.
  • Implement robust ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple sources while ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Optimize workflows to minimize latency and maximize throughput for analytical workloads.
  • Enable self-service data access through secure and efficient data lakes, data marts, APIs, and dashboards.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with teams across Finance, Operations, Investment Services, and other departments to identify data needs and deliver scalable engineering solutions.
  • Ensure seamless integration between data pipelines, analytics tools, and reporting systems.
  • Mentor team members, providing guidance on best practices in data engineering, architecture, and platform development.
  • Communicate updates to senior leadership on data infrastructure capabilities, challenges, and opportunities.

Innovation and Optimization:

  • Stay informed about emerging data engineering technologies and trends, applying innovative solutions to improve OFN’s data capabilities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in data ingestion, transformation, and storage to support both real-time and batch analytics.
  • Monitor and optimize data infrastructure performance to ensure efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead the integration of advanced data engineering platforms like Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field, or 5-7 years of experience in lieu of a degree, (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in designing and managing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture design, data modeling, and database management (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to mentor and inspire teams.

Compensation and Benefits

The full salary range for VP leveled employees is $90,100 to $162,800.

Salaries paid at Opportunity Finance Network will vary based on factors that may include skills, education, location, experience, and performance. The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the position level.
