Background
Vital Healthcare Capital (V-Cap) is a mission-driven Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that finances development of quality healthcare and good healthcare jobs in low-income communities. V-Cap supports community-based healthcare providers such as Community Health Centers and Mental Health Centers through flexible and advantageous financing, targeted development services, and strong community partnerships.
This is a hybrid role, with the individual ideally being located in one of V-Cap’s key market areas, that is New York metro area, or Raleigh-Durham NC area, or Denver CO metro area.
Summary
This position will manage and develop collaborative relationships with foundations and mission aligned financial institutions, in order to:
• Make funding and subsidized capital available to the low-income community healthcare organizations V-Cap supports;
• Advance V-Cap fundraising and capitalization strategies; and
• Strengthen funding collaboratives addressing health disparities in low-income communities.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities include:
• Cultivate relationships with foundations and other financial institutions focused on health justice, primary care, mental health and substance use, and low-income community well-being.
• Work with V-Cap’s market teams to involve philanthropic partners in community investment opportunities V-Cap is developing.
• Support V-Cap’s CEO in fund development through new grant, loan, and EQ2 funding.
• Collaborate with philanthropic partners to help them leverage their resources to achieve greater impact.
• Represent V-Cap in funder collaboratives and similar venues aimed at impacting low-income community health and well-being.
Requirements
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in philanthropy, impact capital, fund development, or in public health fields in roles that included philanthropy/impact capital collaborations.
• Experience in the health sector and fluency in the issues impacting health in low-income communities. Expertise related to behavioral health and/or community health centers is strongly desired.
• Experience with and fluency in non-profit organization financing is strongly desired.
• Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills. The candidate should excel at learning the interests and passions of potential partners, and finding common ground for collaborative work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate finance concepts to nonfinance audiences; ability to develop persuasive visual presentations; and ability to incorporate information from diverse sources into presentations, talking points, and proposals.
• Advanced degree in public health, community development or related fields is a plus.
• Knowledge of and ability to continuously learn the policy, financial, health, and community drivers of challenges facing community healthcare providers.
• Confident in fully utilizing current business software platforms, including MS Office suite (Excel/Word/PowerPoint), G Suite products, and staying current in social media platforms.
• Self-starter able to work independently, juggle multiple priorities in representing stakeholders and communities, and creatively pursue V-Cap’s goals.
• Team-oriented, collaborative style, able to share organizational and administrative responsibilities as needed, with other team members.
• Passion for V-Cap’s mission is a must.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with robust benefits, including comprehensive health insurance, ancillary benefits and retirement savings plan.
Salary Range $95,000 to $125,000, dependent on credentials, directly related experience and skill sets.
