Summary
The Loan Servicing and Portfolio Manager is the client’s point of contact borrowers post-loan closing. The role is responsible for loan closing, disbursement, payment performance, compliance monitoring, annual review, financial analysis and risk management. The position coordinates all post-loan closing support and activities aligned with borrowers’ needs and requirements. This position will monitor, identify, and resolve performance-related concerns/issues as part of the administration of Business Consortium Fund’s Loan portfolio, and will also measure credit risk and performance metrics.
This position will play a key role in managing the growth and risk of the small business loan portfolio. The ideal candidate would be an exceptional communicator who can work well at the intersection of risk management and customer service. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
Responsibilities
Loan Servicing, and Portfolio Management:
- Serve as main contact for borrowers post-loan closing and provide excellent customer service.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of Ventures Loan Management System and loan servicing for lending department.
- Track, input, and report all payments due for Borrowers. Maintain and ensure meticulous data quality and accuracy in Ventures System.
- Lead outreach and collection efforts for delinquent Borrowers and manage loan modifications when necessary.
- Prepare monthly reporting on loan payments and delinquencies.
- Manage daily reconciliation of Ventures System with BCF’s daily bank cash transactions.
Loan Closing
- Oversee the loan closing and disbursement for new loans, including the preparation of closing documents, processing of wire transfers, perfection of collateral and security interests, and data entry to Ventures System.
- Prepare welcome letters for new borrowers.
Loan Compliance and Analysis:
- Manage timely collection of borrower data and reporting and perform ongoing assessment of borrower loan performance and financial health.
- Oversee and uphold borrower compliance with reporting and financial covenants.
- Prepare detailed written credit memoranda with detailed assessment and recommendation for loan modifications and restructures. This includes borrower, guarantor, project, industry, financial and collateral analysis.
Risk Management and Portfolio Reporting
- Track monthly metrics and prepare comprehensive monthly reporting on portfolio performance for senior leadership.
- Support senior leadership in portfolio analysis and decisions including allocating loan loss reserves.
- Prepare and update monthly delinquency reporting.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to reconcile the Ventures System with accounting records.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in financial services at a CDFI, FinTech, credit union, or bank in a related loan servicing and/or portfolio management role, including 1-2 years of experience in a client-facing lending role.
- Experience spreading financial statements and outlining key financial risks and ratios for loans under evaluation.
- Expert-level proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and critical thinking skills, strong detail orientation, and commitment to data integrity.
- Highly motivated, with a strong work ethic and sound judgment. Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving ability; thrives in a test-and-learn environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong financial literacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for supporting others.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local community development programs; knowledge of CDFIs is a plus.
- Familiarity with Ventures Lending Technologies is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range of $90,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience.
