New Guide Makes Comparing Loan Management Tools Easier

For CDFIs and mission-driven lenders, selecting the right loan management software (LMS) is a critical decision that can shape operational efficiency, portfolio management, borrower experience, and long-term organizational growth.

But evaluating systems can be challenging. Researching available options and sourcing information on functionality, implementation requirements, pricing, and more is a time-intensive process. Because each CDFI has unique needs, it can also be difficult to directly compare features across vendors. OFN members frequently turn to peers for technology recommendations and lessons learned. In fact, it’s one of the most frequently asked questions on CDFI Connect discussion boards.

OFN’s Loan Management Software Buy Guide is designed to help address these challenges. This new resource provides a side-by-side overview of technology solutions currently used by CDFIs and other mission-driven lenders. By sourcing standardized submissions directly from vendors and their CDFI clients, it offers a consistent framework for comparison organized within a centralized resource.

Loan management software tools are not one-size-fits-all. There is no “best” platform, and OFN does not endorse any product, vendor, or service included in this resource. Each CDFI has specific requirements based on a range of factors, including its size, products, geography, resources, staffing, strategic goals, and more. Choosing the right system is about identifying the best fit for an organization’s specific context. We hope that this tool provides a useful starting point for exploring available options.

Highlights of the Resource

This edition of the Buy Guide includes:

• More than 65 pages of content profiling 13 available LMS software solutions
• An At-a-Glance chart summarizing key features and capabilities, allowing for direct comparison across systems
• Vendor profiles, including pricing information, points of contact, product screenshots, and more
• Insights from references, including strengths, drawbacks, and reflections on implementation

Future Editions

Technology products are perpetually evolving, and OFN plans to refresh this guide periodically to ensure that the information stays relevant. The vendors included in this resource do not represent a comprehensive list of available solutions. To develop this edition, OFN reached out to LMS vendors that were identified through our most recent member technology survey.

Software providers interested in being included in future editions are encouraged to submit information through the survey linked below. Our team will follow up with additional details on the process and timeframe for publishing updates.

Peer Learning & Additional Technology Resources

We also intend to expand our technology resource library offerings over time. As a first step, OFN is hosting a series of member-only peer discussions organized by loan management software, beginning with the systems most commonly used by our members. These sessions will provide an opportunity for practitioners to exchange lessons learned and other advice on getting the most out of each of these platforms. Insights from these conversations will be anonymized and synthesized into a companion Peer Insights Guide, providing mission-driven lenders with practitioner perspectives to complement the vendor information included in the Buy Guide. We’ll be starting with the following dates in August 2026:
