OFN President Lisa Mensah Talks CDFIs on CNBC’s On the Money

On March 9, CNBC aired its weekly show “On the Money” featuring a segment highlighting the important role CDFIs play in the lives of the one in four unbanked and underbanked Americans living in financial deserts around the nation.

Following a clip showing the positive economic impact OFN member Hope Credit Union is having in rural Mississippi, OFN President and CEO Lisa Mensah spoke with anchor Becky Quick about how CDFIs help individuals and communities break the cycle of persistent poverty and move forward with their lives.

While inequitable access to financial services and the gap CDFIs fill are well-known among industry practitioners, we are encouraged to see mainstream media’s coverage of CDFIs for those less aware of these important issues!
