Position summary

We’re seeking a skilled Writer and Content Producer to join our marketing team.

The Writer and Content Producer is the marketing team’s lead strategic storyteller. They are responsible for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop, research, write, and edit compelling stories and other communication materials that promote and elevate the Community Loan Fund by inspiring and engaging audiences across a variety of channels.

The Writer and Content Producer partners with the marketing and program teams to develop distinctive and intentional messaging that serves the teams’ content strategies, as well as the organization’s fundraising, stewardship, program-growth, policy, and brand-building goals.

In addition to primary responsibilities as a talented and consistent writer, the Writer and Content Producer actively contributes to the overall efficiency of the marketing team by taking on key production coordination tasks.

By seamlessly integrating the creative and logistical aspects of the role, this individual helps drive our marketing initiatives, ensuring a cohesive and compelling brand presence across various platforms.


Essential functions

  • Identify and pursue stories that demonstrate the life-changing impact of the Community Loan Fund’s programs.
  • Create fundraising campaign materials, press releases, op-eds, blogs, emails, webinars, and website and social media content that elevate the Community Loan Fund’s brand and enhances our ability to attract new donors, investors, and borrowers while strengthening current relationships
  • Lead researcher, writer, proofreader, and distributor of all written content including but not limited to social media, impact storytelling, annual report development, appeals campaign narratives, policy/advocacy support materials, educational materials, programmatic support materials, press releases, and media outreach
  • Analyze writing for efficacy, impact, and new opportunity development
  • Help program teams build impactful, audience-specific, slide decks for presentations to investors, donors, policymakers, and other constituents
  • Work with the Director of Marketing to establish our senior managers, C-Suite, and program managers as thought leaders in their niches via preparation, delivery, and presentation of materials for major events such as press conferences, annual meetings, national and regional industry conferences, forums, legislative testimony, and other organizational opportunities
  • Collaborate with and provide art direction to photographers, designers, and colleagues to make photo, video, and written work cohesive and impactful
  • Serve as the Community Loan Fund’s messaging and style champion, ensuring internal teams have the knowledge and tools to represent the brand appropriately
  • Ensure strict adherence to brand, content, and writing style guidelines
  • Balance multiple priorities and deadlines while working in a mission-driven, team environment
  • Assist with social media management
  • Uphold the highest ethics and standards
  • Contribute to a respectful and collegial workplace atmosphere while actively living the values and advancing the mission of the Community Loan Fund
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines including fair lending and ethical behavior
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field
  • Minimum of three years of journalism, public relations, or creative writing experience
  • Knowledge of and experience and aptitude with Windows Office, Canva, and social media (Craft web platform a plus)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including working with diverse teams and across organizational functions
  • Ability to convey appropriate messages in meaningful and compelling ways to represent the Community Loan Fund via various forms of public engagement to diverse groups
  • Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities, both scheduled and ad hoc, in a dynamic organizational culture subject to ambiguous or uncertain external factors
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders/customers
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proven record of developing successful collaborations with diverse stakeholders.
  • Vendor management experience
  • High fluency with Microsoft Office programs, content management systems like Craft content management system and HubSpot, and social media platforms
  • Must adhere to policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines including fair lending and ethical behavior
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary of $65,000

The Community Loan Fund’s current benefit package which includes medical and dental coverage, group life and disability options, health and dependent care, Flexible Spending Accounts and our 401(k) Plan upon completion of each plan’s eligibility requirements. Accrued vacation and sick time are offered as well as floating holidays.  These benefits are subject to modification at any time by the Community Loan Fund.
