About the Opportunity
The Research Department has an immediate opening for a Research Analyst to join a collaborative team of research analysts and regional economists in our Regional and Community Analysis unit.
You will clean and analyze data gathered through our Survey of Community College Outcomes (SCCO) and support a range of activities in the department, from internal briefings for the Bank President to external presentations and publications for the public. Bring your strong analytical skills, a firm grasp of economic principles, an interest in workforce development and higher education, and a desire to continuously improve processes, learn and grow! The position is located in the Bank’s riverfront headquarters building in Richmond, Va or at the branch location in Charlotte, Nc.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
- Perform data collection, data organization, and data cleaning of data collected through our Survey of Community College Outcomes
- Produce written content related to the Survey of Community College and our broader work on higher education and workforce development
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis
- Write detailed findings for inclusion in internal or external publications; may edit and review work of less senior staff
- Create charts and other data visuals for internal and external presentations
- Maintain records and perform data upkeep for large data sets related to higher education and workforce development, beyond the SCCO data.
- Collaborate with peers and other departments to align research activities with Bank goals and strategies
- Present survey finding to external groups
Requirements
Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, coursework in economics (preferred), and three or more years of relevant work experience. Experience with computer programming and statistical analysis software packages (such as Stata, R, Matlab, C, Fortran, Gauss, and Python) is highly valued. Experience with Tableau is a plus. Acute attention to detail with a high level of data integrity and accuracy is required, as are strong research skills, analytical ability, and the ability to write reports that concisely convey critical information about complex subjects.

- The hiring range of the Research Analyst position is $67,600 – $92,950 annually.
- Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications.
- The Fifth District provides a hybrid work environment. This position is required to be onsite on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week.
