Summary

The Washington Area Community Investment Fund (Wacif) seeks a Program Marketing Specialist, who will be responsible for supporting the marketing of Wacif’s business advisory and capital deployment programming. This position reports to Wacif’s Program Marketing Manager, and is embedded within Wacif’s programs team, functioning as a thought and process partner identifying and responding to programming communications needs in real-time. The Program Marketing Specialist will play an important role in implementing Wacif’s communications strategy, executing Wacif’s editorial calendar, driving digital and print content development, and executing digital engagement priorities identified by the programs team and confirmed with the Program Marketing Manager.

REPORTS TO: Program Marketing Manager

Responsibilities

Content Design and Development – 60%

  • Drive the design and delivery of program-focused content and engagement, including but not limited to:
    • Website design and web content publishing
    • Digital engagement strategy and content
    • Event marketing
    • Print Materials
    • Photography
    • Videography
    • Data Visualizations
  • Collaborate with team members within the programs team and communications team to identify content needs.
  • Generate and pitch creative and strategic content ideas.
  • Develop and execute against realistic production timelines.
  • Identify engagement opportunities and support the Programs team and Communications team in developing content ideas.
  • Manage the capture and editing of photos and other multimedia from organizational and partner events.
  • Analyze communications data from web, social, and mail platforms to identify insights for developing effective communications products.

Communications and Content Strategy – 20%

  • Serve as thought partner to Wacif’s Communications team and Programs team in:
    • Developing Program communications goals and priorities that align with broader organizational goals articulated by the Communications team.
    • Shaping and sharing with the team Wacif’s key audiences at the strategy level and at the tactical (content type, platform) level.
    • Manage a process to identify a focused set of key communications performance indicators against which performance will be managed, to include:
      • Engagement with Wacif content;
      • Audience growth, with a focus on key audiences;
      • Content production timelines.
    • Collaborate regularly with Wacif’s Development team to ensure that Wacif programs are communicating to win- aligning communications and content strategy with organizational fundraising and partnership goals.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by management as deemed appropriate.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional communications experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing preferred.
  • Expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite, or similar multimedia production applications, including:
    • InDesign
    • Illustrator
    • Photoshop
    • Premiere
  • Good design and aesthetic sensibility.
  • Demonstrated expertise in editorial calendar execution and consistent content delivery.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to plan, coordinate, organize, prioritize, and simultaneously implement multiple projects.
  • Project Management and working across departments and with various stakeholders (vendors, clients, team members, etc.).
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
  • A high level of motivation, initiative and attention to detail demonstrated by proactively taking on projects
  • A friendly, collegial personality with compulsive integrity.
  • Adaptable/flexible — enjoys work that may require frequent shifts in direction.
  • Interest in and commitment to Wacif’s mission of working with low and moderate-income individuals and underserved communities.
