The MCRC Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the development, implementation and execution of government relationships and the economic development that support ECDI’s mission and strategic goals. As a part of their work they will support the Minority Contractor Resource Center, one of ECDI’s flagship offerings that provides services to small emerging commercial construction firms through one-on-one incubation services, consultations and an education pathway to the commercial construction industry. They will serve as an industry-specific navigator, and an advocate for the success of all minority-owned firms.

The MCRC Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of intake as it relates to program operations within the Minority Contractor Resource Center (MCRC). The primary focus of this position is to manage program schedules and conduct program document management. In addition, the focus of this position is to work with the MCRC Manager to build full-scale incubator/accelerator services for minority owned businesses in Northeast Ohio while providing similar types of services for additional clients, specifically in the Akron, Canton, and Cleveland Markets.

The Coordinator will assist with small business intake, loan packaging assistance, and program coordinator services to assist in the growth of ECDI’s Northeast market and development of minority commercial contractors throughout the state of Ohio.

Candidates for this position must be located in the Greater Cleveland Area. This is a hybrid role required to be onsite at least three (3) days a week.


  • Maintains and updates Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) firms and individuals seeking construction employment within the construction trades through Salesforce.
  • Develops and maintains program database of MBE firms seeking industry education, mentorship, and training as well as technical assistance programs either directly through the incubator/accelerator or through partnerships with other organizations such as the Builders Exchange, established construction firms, and ECDI’s Business Incubation and Innovation Center (BIIC) and Women’s Business Center (WBC).
  • Manages program schedules and business client documentation.
  • Serves as main contact person for MBE firms
  • Provides coordination assistance to the MCRC Manager and Senior VP of Government Affairs and Economic Development.
  • Research and developing program opportunities to help solve the barriers faced by minority contractors in construction.
  • Works with MCRC manager to evaluate opportunities and create plans for new construction-focused programs including budgets, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Assist MCRC Manager with implementation of program budgets and assure any program requirements (such as job creation) are achieved and reported on in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates access to capital needs with ECDI’s lending services.
  • Assists MCRC manager in evaluating new MBE members with setting and managing growth plans.
  • Performs other related activities, as required, to assure department and organizational success.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Computer Skills – Experience with and knowledge of computer operation; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance through job placement, mentorship/professional development, and training.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and the barriers facing minority contractors.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams and senior managers.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates degree in business or related discipline OR at least three years of experience working in an incubator/accelerator or leading, mentoring, or advising startups.
  • Experience working with small businesses.
  • Lending and/or banking experience preferred.
  • Construction industry finance experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Occasional travel to different construction markets required
  • Occasional after hours and weekend hours required


  • This is a hybrid role required to be onsite at least three (3) days a week.
  • Must have access to transportation in order to travel to and from the office and to meet with clients.
  • Typically, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time. The person in this position will occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and computer printer.
  • Positions self to move items up to 15 pounds, such as printer paper boxes across the office as needed.
  • Must avoid risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
