Summary

The Fund Development Manager supports and influences strategy development for the Revenue Team, strengthens funder engagement initiatives, and contributes to growing a diverse waterway of funders. A core function of their role is planning and leading grant proposals and reports from start to finish with guidance from the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships. They are also pivotal in funder prospecting, specifically in building new funder engagement strategies that increase unrestricted, flexible funding.

Responsibilities

      • Funding and Grant Development (50%)
      • Develop compelling and persuasive proposals and pitches that align with current organizational needs in partnership with the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships
      • Create external materials that support fundraising efforts, including 2-pagers, quarterly impact summaries, case stories, and profiles for funders
      • Collaborate cross-departmentally to integrate quantitative and qualitative impact data into proposals and reports that shows our unique value proposition to funders
      • Participate in funder meetings, as needed; take notes and be able to distill information that helps inform next steps and further engagement
      • Develop reports for current funders, as requested
      • Provide guidance to Revenue Associate in maintaining Revenue systems and the funder waterway, including grant files, proposal submission and reporting deadlines
      • Funder Waterway Management (20%)
      • Manage the funder waterway in Salesforce of mid-range (likely 6 figure) institutional funders with support from the Revenue Associate
      • Research and identify new potential revenue sources, including but not limited to new philanthropic organizations, national donor circles, and Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs); evaluate opportunities with the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships to ensure alignment with the organization’s future directions and program initiatives
      • Develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for current and prospective funders; help develop new and creative ideas for funder engagement
      • Participate in the Revenue Team’s funder waterway review process, and support the Revenue Associate in maintaining an organized funder cultivation and stewardship system in the waterway (Salesforce) database
      • In partnership with the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships, explore emerging strategies–such as corporate match programs, legacy gifts, and other planned giving strategies–for building the waterway that supports flexible unrestricted funding
      • Supervision (20%) 
      • Supervise Revenue Associate, who is responsible for administration of the Revenue project management systems and operations
    • Revenue Strategy (10%)
    • Review progress toward annual Rev OKRs with Director of Philanthropic Partnerships on a quarterly basis
    • Support the development and implementation of Revenue Team policies and procedures
    • Keep abreast of funding and other nonprofit trends through publications, professional networks, and educational events; distill and share relevant information with Rev, the co-CEOs, and cross-teams, as appropriate
    • Maintain a deep understanding of the organization’s initiatives and activities

Requirements

      • 3-5 years of grant writing and/or fundraising experience
      • Interest in alternative and/or emerging economic solutions and structures that uplift Black and Indigenous communities
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills: can analyze data and articulate information for multiple funder audiences; present complex ideas and initiatives in a pragmatic, compelling manner
      • Entrepreneurial spirit and aptitude for learning autonomously; has the enthusiasm and energy to implement new strategies and meet ambitious goals
      • Strong interpersonal skills: attentive listening and observation, transparency, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and clear communication
      • Strategic, forward-thinking self-starter with the ability to productively provide and receive feedback

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range is $79,500 to $85,800 USD and commensurate with competence and experience.
