Background
Gastineau Human Services Corporation runs a reentry program for people coming out of incarceration, homelessness, and overcoming substance use and behavioral health challenges.
Summary
The Finance Director will manage the financial activities of the corporation, supervise and delegate tasks to the accounting staff, oversee the preparation of financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth. Along with the other three Program Directors and the Executive Director, the Finance Director is a member of the leadership team that helps steer the organization in its strategic planning. This position is permanent, full-time, exempt, and reports directly to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises accounting and billing assistants.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversees Corporation accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, budget preparation, and audit functions.
- Works with other department heads to monitor finances of department and make recommendations.
- Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, Board of Directors reports, tax returns, and assists with grant and contract reports.
- Compares revenue and projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; Works with Executive Director to make or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Provides oversight of all aspects of Resident Trust accounting, Juno House clients’ accounts, primary accounting functions for behavioral health services, and all other financial accounts.
- Reviews financial planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
- Oversee billing for behavioral health programs.
- Oversees compliance with fiscal policies and procedures.
- Works with the Executive Director and other Directors to coordinate financial planning for each department or program.
- Assists with financial aspects of grant applications, accounting, and reporting.
- Studies long-range economic trends and projects their impact on the financial growth and stability of the Corporation.
- Oversees the investment of funds and works with investment bankers to maximize growth.
- Provides oversight of the fixed assets / real property tracking, inventory and disposal.
- Oversees financial aspects of payroll.
- Other duties assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or similar required.
- Significant financial management experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must pass a DHSS background check.
- Must have a current driver’s license and be insurable by current GHS auto insurance carrier.
- Must pass drug test upon hire.
Annual Salary Range:
- $97,987 – $137,182 DOE
