Summary
Momentus Capital is seeking a DMV Senior Program Specialist that is a highly organized and self-motivated problem solver who can support the development, expansion, enhancement, and implementation of capacity building programs for BIPOC real estate developers and small business entrepreneurs. The ideal candidate is committed to our mission of building inclusive and equitable communities by providing people access to the capital and opportunities they deserve. The candidate will leverage their knowledge, experience, and connections in real estate development, affordable housing, and/or finance to support strategic planning, conduct research, and assist with data collection and analysis. They will take initiative in analyzing themes and provide suggestions for program improvement, as well as support the DMV Initiatives Director with delivering and maintaining high quality and high impact programs, including the Equitable Development Initiative (EDI), a capacity building program for emerging real estate developers and other technical assistance programming serving EDI alumni and real estate developers. The desired candidate is grounded in the local community and will be responsible for supporting the expansion of Momentus Capital’s products and services related to core pillars inclusive of affordable housing, food, and small businesses, while deepening cross-team programmatic lending and investment initiatives and promoting economic mobility for entrepreneurs.
The Senior Program Specialist will have the opportunity to serve in various capacities in a highly collaborative environment and mission focused team, supporting the launch of new programs and the development of grant proposals, as well as other organization-wide projects related to lending initiatives, and external affairs. The Specialist will facilitate efficient connections to lending and investment capital, catalytic grants, and technical assistance.
The position will be hybrid based in the DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) metro region and report to the Director of DMV Initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support the administration and implementation of capacity building programs as well as strategy development, and partner and stakeholder engagement
- Manage critical program phases including application launch, evaluation and reporting
- Manage data collection and analysis, and internal/ external reporting with funders, partners, and other stakeholders
- Develop and launch new initiatives and support programmatic expansion, including market research and design. Contribute to local strategy development and fundraising proposals as needed
- Cultivate community partnerships with local and national partners to foster greater access to resources and capital for real estate and food enterprises, cooperatives, and small businesses.
- Represent Momentus at regional community outreach events and other community development real estate and small business programming
- Generate and manage loan and investment pipeline referrals to Momentus Capital Deployment teams
- Collaborate with IST on data collection efforts and data analysis for DMV programs and develop recommendations for program enhancements
- Assist in the cultivation and development of strategic partnerships with local partners to elevate DMV developers and other small business entrepreneurs, relevant community and affordable housing development projects and enterprises, and DMV programs and initiatives
- Ensure program participants, alumni and borrowers are connected to supportive services to include the identification, coordination, and provision of technical assistance
- Support National Programs in program replication efforts, including market research and design efforts outside of the DMV/Eastern region.
- Engage in corporate-wide projects connected to programmatic work and support marketing and communication efforts
Requirements
- At least 5-8 years of relevant experience in economic development, affordable housing and real estate development, finance, small business and entrepreneurship; or 4 years of experience in one of those areas with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge/experience of working in a CDFI or financial institution is preferred.
- Financial acumen and experience with lending or underwriting, proficiency with financial statement analysis is desirable.
- Exemplar at building and cultivating relationships required.
- Experience with providing and/or coordinating technical assistance is preferred.
- Experience in program and/or grant management. Strong data analysis and visualization skills.
- Strong interest in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Strong operational and execution skills (planning, problem solving etc.).
- Demonstrated capacity for independent judgment and sound decision making in a diverse and complex organizational environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills (e.g., presentations, periodic reports).
- Proficient in Microsoft programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite (e.g., Google Docs, Sheets) is required.
Compensation and Benefits
$63,000 – $78,370 + annual incentive
