Background
ACE started as a rural North Georgia Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) to assist women entrepreneurs with microloans to pursue their business dreams. From these humble beginnings, ACE has grown into the largest small business focused nonprofit in Georgia. With a mission and focus on underserved people and places, ACE connects small businesses owned by women, people of color and low to moderate income entrepreneurs in metro Atlanta, North Georgia and South Georgia with capital and coaching to sustain their businesses, retain their employees, and thereby support their local communities. Since 2000, ACE has loaned more than $200 million in financial support and services to approximately 2,600 small businesses, who have created or saved more than 21,000 jobs in Georgia.
Summary
As a member of the management team, the Director of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for all fundraising and oversight of marketing activities for ACE. In partnership with the President and CEO, the Director of Strategic Partnerships establishes and implements fundraising and marketing goals and strategies. Responsibilities include tasks relating to identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of national, state and local donors and prospects.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the President and CEO, Board and team in the effective execution of all development and marketing activities
- Provide leadership and guidance for operational strategy, management and processes, including timelines, objectives and metrics.
- Oversee a portfolio of donors and prospects that requires a systematic approach of personal visits and outreach.
- Build the skills, knowledge, and abilities of the strategic partnerships team in areas including annual giving, major gifts, events, donor relations, community partnerships, grants, communications and stewardship.
- Formulates short- and long-term goals and workplans concerning the fundraising and marketing efforts of the organization.
- Discovers new and potentially lucrative revenue streams for expansion of the organization’s fundraising efforts, maintaining pipeline of all solicitations and proposals in Salesforce.
- Oversees and works in conjunction with the Grant Development Specialist to complete all grants and proposals.
- Review written proposals, letters and other communications for individuals, corporations, foundations and grantors.
- Oversees all philanthropic funding campaigns appeals.
- Tracks revenue and fundraising trends, then uses the information to predict future opportunities for expansion efforts and avoid any downtrends in individual, corporate or foundation gifts.
- Manages a portfolio of existing and prospective partners.
- Oversees the execution of all mailings and written solicitations.
- Supports the President and Board in attracting new donors.
- Develops and publishes regular updates on major events and success of the organization.
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with major donors by responding to their inquiries, keeping them apprised of recent events with the organization and showing them the progress, their donations have made possible.
- Attends Board meeting and interacts with Board as needed.
- Attends ACE meetings, events and programs, as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, hire and train employees within the fund development and marketing department.
- Manage, mentor, coach, and provide direct oversight for the team.
- Drive to and from prospective and current donors, business centers and client businesses as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree recommended in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, community development, or public policy.
- Must have at least five years’ experience in fundraising (minimum of $5M annually). Non-profit experience a plus.
- Must have demonstrated history in managing a team.
- Must have demonstrated success in project management, public relations, group facilitation, or event planning.
- Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills required to craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner
- Ability to develop strategic communications content
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects on an ongoing basis
- Must have demonstrable Microsoft Office and social media skills; database experience a plus.
- Ability to manage large volumes of work.
- Must communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse groups.
Work environment and physical demands:
- The job is performed indoors in a traditional office or remote setting. Office location is in Georgia, hours flexible to include nights and weekends, as needed.
- Using a computer while sitting for extended periods is common.
- Must also be able to position self to maintain equipment, including under tables and desks.
- The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the office occasionally (accessing files/storage, office equipment, computers and other office productivity devices, attending meetings, etc.), is required.
- No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., picking up and carrying binders, laptops) may be required. Good manual dexterity required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, calculators, copiers, scanners)
- Requires local travel as needed.
