Summary
Aeris is recruiting Ratings Operations Associates with a passion for social and environmental justice who are self-starters, quick-learners, good team players, and have a natural aptitude for data and details. The Ratings Operations Associate will support Aeris’ work on financial and impact data and analyses of CDFIs. Our work helps direct investments into CDFIs, which provide financing and technical assistance to people, businesses, and communities that are historically marginalized and underserved. Associates will work in a collaborative team environment and learn new skills, content, and ideas to help guide capital to good. This role will provide a great foundation for other opportunities in the company and the community development finance industry. It is also suitable for late-career professionals who are interested in applying their experience to support the social impact creation of CDFIs and Aeris’ mission.
In this role, the individual will be responsible for formulating tables and graphs and preparing rating report templates by managing, interpreting and analyzing data and financial statements collected from the CDFIs. . The Associate will need to manage their performance against scheduled workloads, demonstrate flexibility as they work with the team in response to changing business needs and priorities. The role requires close collaboration with the Aeris team, rating Analysts, and the CDFIs Aeris rates and collects data from.
Responsibilities
- Manage CDFIs’ data and document submissions to the Aeris Cloud (Aeris’ proprietary data collection platform) and verify the accuracy of the data they submit.
- Produce calculated ratios and related tables and graphs for Aeris’ rating analyses or quarterly performance reports on individual CDFI, as well as proof and finalize quarterly financial statements and reported performance metrics. Accuracy is critical.
- Prepare detailed report templates for Aeris Analysts.
- Communicate with CDFIs and Aeris Analysts when clarification or additional data is needed about the materials CDFIs have submitted.
- Track and monitor the timeliness of assigned rating projects and participate actively in weekly scheduling meetings to keep operations on track and up to quality standards.
- Lead demonstrations of the Aeris Cloud for external users.
- Promote Aeris by participating in industry convenings/events, both virtual and in-person.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related fields with outstanding record of academic achievement.
- Two plus years of professional experience in financial services, including experience in reading, interpreting, and analyzing financial data, GAAP financial statements, and tax returns. Familiarity with nonprofit financial statements is a plus.
- Two plus years of demonstrated accounting experience through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education.
- Advanced PC skills including standard Microsoft Office products and database applications, familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems desired; preferably Salesforce.com is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong accounting knowledge and skills, proficiency in production and analysis of lender financials, nonprofit financial reporting experience is a plus.
- One plus years of financial spreading and analysis, credit risk management or underwriting experience is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with external and internal stakeholders.
- Detailed-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time and superior organization and time management skills to meet hard deadlines.
- Self-motivated, able work both independently and with teams and with diverse constituents and have strong work ethic.
- Be able to respond to Analyst and CDFI inquiries and receive direction and ability to apply knowledge in related areas to successfully complete tasks assigned.
- Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines for projects often in a high-pressure work environment, with varying degrees of supervision.
- Ability to adapt to change (e.g. shifting priorities, demands, and timelines) through time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
